Microsoft Word + Copilot

19th December 2025

Microsoft Word combined with Copilot becomes a powerful assistant for creating and refining written content. Staff can quickly draft letters to parents, update policies or prepare scripts for assemblies using simple prompts. Beyond drafting, Copilot can rewrite documents to improve clarity, adjust tone or make them accessible for different reading ages, ideal for SEND communication. It can also summarise lengthy documents, condensing a ten-page safeguarding policy into five key points for quick reference. Templates and forms are another area where Copilot shines, creating reusable structures for consent forms or meeting agendas. For SEND and LAC administrators, Copilot can generate detailed reports for EHCP reviews or pastoral summaries, saving hours of manual work.

Examples:

  • Write a letter to parents explaining the new homework policy in a friendly tone.
  • Rewrite this safeguarding policy for a reading age of 12.
  • Summarise this 10-page SEND policy into 5 key points.
  • Create a template for a parent-teacher meeting agenda.
  • Generate a pastoral summary for a Year 8 student based on these notes.
